North West Wales Dendrochronology Project

INVITATION TO VOLUNTEERS in PHASE III areas.

Many people have expressed an interest in taking part in this project as a volunteer. Phase II of the Project, started in September 2010, and included Anglesey, south Denbighshire and much of the old Caernarfonshire and old Merionethshire areas. Conwy will be in Phase 3, starting after January 2011.

An invitation is now being made to those wanting to volunteer in the Phase III area, or who were unable to attend earlier Induction Days A free weekday induction / training session is being arranged for Conwy and will be held in LLANDUDNO record offices on 14th January 2011. It will probably be the final Induction Day.

This will cover 1) a summary of the project; 2) the role of volunteers; 3) the selection of activities open to volunteers; 4) the support given to volunteers; 5) an introduction into using archives to research house histories; 6) informal interviews to discuss each individual’s involvement; 7) the appointment of approved volunteers.

Individuals can select how and when they participate as volunteers. Approved recorded mileage will be paid at 35p per mile. There will be meetings with the area volunteer co-ordinators. Training in other aspects of the project will be announced later.
